【摘要】:Abrasionresistanceisadesirableandsometimescriticalpropertyofprintedmaterials.Abrasiondamagecanoccurduringshipment,storage,handling,andenduse.Theresultisasignificantdecreaseinproductappearanceandlegibilityofproductinformation.Theamountofabrasiondamagetoaprintedsubstrateisdependentonshippingconditions,possiblytemperatureandhumidity,time,andmanyothervariables.Thispracticeprovidesawayofcomparingabrasionresistanceofprintedmaterialsunderlaboratoryconditions.Thispracticealsocanbeusedtoevaluatetherelativeabrasionresistanceofprintedinks,coatings,laminates,andsubstrates.Thispracticecanbemodifiedtomeasuretheeffectsoftheproduct(detergentpowder,food,beverages,etc.)onabrasionresistance,asmayoccurinspillageorleakageintransit.Thispracticecanprovideareasonablysimpleprocedurethatcanbeusedbyboththebuyerandthesellerofprintedmaterialstodetermineiftheproductofferedforsalemeetssomepredeterminedstandardforabrasionorscuffresistance.1.1ThispracticecoversaprocedurefordeterminingtheabrasionresistanceofprintedmaterialsusingtheSutherlandRubTester,oritsequivalent,equippedwithfull-widthrubberpadsandusingstandardizedreceptors.1.2Thispracticeisapplicabletolabels,foldingcartons,corrugatedboxes,inserts,circulars,andotherpackagingmaterialshavingappliedgraphicsonaflatsubstrate.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
